Mixing Has Completed
Mixing has finally completed on our new album. Thank God.... I was starting to go a bit crazy down in the studio. But it was all worth it. Today I went to Mastermind studios in Milwaukee to get the record mastered. And as of 4:25 P.M. today, all work on our new record has been completed. All of the artwork has been assembled and is ready for production.
I must say I am quite pleased with how everything has turned out. I feel it is a great step forward for us. Had you played this album for me a year and a half ago, I might not have guessed it could be us. I hope you all will enjoy this record as much as we had making it.

Its Snowy outside, and Foggy inside.
The past few weeks have been super snowy and cold here in Wisconsin. Keeping us indoors and off of the roads filled with lunatics who think the highway is a race track. But that is okay. The colder weather has kept me focused on getting tracking done for our next album. I wanted to get it all done by the end of the year, and I think I am damn near close to achieving that.
I would say my parts are 95% done. We re-recorded Brads drums last Sunday, (Which sound way better) and Bob re-recorded some of his stuff in the past few weeks as well. We have just a little bit of percussion here and there left to add. But that wont take long.
This next album will sound quite a bit different from our previous release. Being that we decided to record it all ourselves, we have been allowed more time to experiment with sounds and instrumentation. I have spent hours upon hours down there (in the studio) just messing around, seeing if there is anything the songs are missing that I hadn't noticed yet. I have branched out from my main instrument guitar, and started mucking about with Piano, Organ, Harmonica, Melodica, and Bells. Bob too has gotten a lot of new gadgets to play with. His Persephone is playing a big role in our music now. (Google it, its awesome) Brad has also delved deeper into programed beats and sounds for this record. So needles to say it is sounding quite big and full.
We have gone well beyond the 24 track capabilities of my computer, so before we go about mixing it I will have to get a new one that can handle everything we have recorded. But that is something that is long over due. I think the computer we are using now I built in 2002. So it is time...
We are planing to get this album out in April if things stay on track as they are. I hope to have it mixed by the end of January, mastered by mid/late February, and then we will start to promote it, release teasers, and get reviews in February/March. We will also be on an upcoming Analogy Records preview release for 2009. Along with The Cemetery Improvement Society, The Projection People, and Butt Funnel. This should be out in February.
Knock on wood...
So to tide you all over until April, here is an example of how things are shaping up. Its still a rough mix with no automation or EQ or anything, but give it a listen and let us know what you think. So here is a Preview of Fog. Enjoy!
Keep in mind that the sound quality is not the greatest. It is off of the camera... for good sound quality just wait 4 more months. :)

It's been a while...
So we've been experiencing some technical difficulties. A lot of technical difficulties, actually. Since the last update, Bob has finished all of his keyboards with his own nice little home set up.

Progress was a little slow, but it was steady. We were getting somewhere. Once he was finished, and we were ready to record Scott, we ran into problems. Namely computer problems. We were getting popping noises while recording. So after purchasing an external hard drive, and backing up all the sessions, Scott wiped his computer clean to start from scratch. Next came the weeks of trying to reinstall Windows, and running into many unexplained problems and failed installations. Finally, when he was about to give up and throw his computer against a wall, it worked. And we managed to reinstall everything, and get back on track. Though the popping is still there...........but we'll deal with that. The point is, we're getting things done again. Here's a few photos of Scott's keyboard set up for some of the new tracks.

We're going to get this record done, just you wait!
